   @RedxWineSplash , listen, people back then were more demanding. That is why artists like vincent van gogh never sold one painting during his lifetime. Art had a purpose. To imitate nature. I love Van Gogh, and many artists like Picasso. But that was a period when art started shifting. During the 17th century and before…Art meant something, we see it in classical music, architecture, etc.. Today we call anything art…and sorry…somethings r plain out stupid.

    But that’s always been what art was. No boundaries. What made Da Vinci and the others great wasn’t only their mastery of the techniques, but how their work invoked and stirred emotions within people.

    This clock thing isn’t my cup of tea either but I don’t look down upon those who like it. And be more positive, art will never be lost…unless we hit another dark era =/

    @sfumato1002 I agree to a certain extent. I dislike modern avantgarde art, yet I wouldn’t want to hinder artists from making it, as I’m not fit to draw the line at what is art and what isn’t.
    That ready-made art where they just take something from the everyday life is fucking retarded though -.-

    Just becouse you think ART is Leonardo Da Vinci or Mozart or Beethoven etc doesnt mean that the clock thing isnt art. To put it clear your opinion mean no shit in this world. Everyone have their own opinion about art and if you feel sorry for the guys that think the clock isnt art, then i feel sorry for you couse your the shitiest artist on this world ^^ no hard feelings dude

    Art is still very much thriving and alive. Never have I said this clock thing was art. Read my original comment- I am simply reminding you that great art still exists, you just have to look for it. Well, maybe for your antiquated definition it doesn’t. But that’s not the world’s problem; that’s yours.

    Yes, Art is lost. Im an artist and I know how difficult it is to reproduce works that awaken the human spirit. I see art today in technology and other means…bur rarely..If you call this clock thing art…then I feel sorry for you.

    The meaning of art is subjective. It isn’t lost at all, it is just evolving. Just don’t let hacks persuade you otherwise… there are a lot of great modern art these days, just as much as there hacks.
